Building Bridges to Better Futures

Galt Construction Update

2003

June 2003 - GALT Bureau Continues Search for a New Site

DHA and the Department of Public Works (Architectural Services Division) are working with a consultant to develop a Request for Proposal (RFP) to find a suitable site in the Galt area for the new bureau.

Although it is expected that the RFP documents will be done soon, it is unclear what impact the state and county budget crisis will have on the timeframes for issuing the RFP, the selection of the new site and the subsequent construction of the planned facility.

Joel Burstiner, Facility Manager for the Fulton Avenue Bureau, was pleasantly surprised when the award was announced.

Galt Office To Relocate

The County Board of Supervisors has approved DHA's request to relocate and expand the Galt Bureau to better serve its clients.

The department is working with County Real Estate to locate and review potential sites for the proposed new facility, which will be approximately 26,000 square feet in size.

Once a site is found, the department will work with local government officials, Supervisor Don Nottoli, and the community to gain their support for the design of the new building.

The process of locating a site, obtaining all approvals and permits, and constructing the facility is expected to take about 3 years.
